The North Suburban Pharmacists of Chicagoland is providing our virtual continuing pharmacy education program experience. NSP is committed to providing thoughtful and engaging programs. Your support of ALL pharmacy organizations (ex. IPhA, NSP, APhA, etc.) is more important now than ever. How we are practicing our profession during this difficult time has been challenging and ever evolving. We will be working to provide virtual programs until it is deemed safe to provide live programs again. NSP is hopeful that you will participate and grow your knowledge with us.

Program Description
We now recognize that racism and discrimination are deeply ingrained in the social, political, and economic structures of our society. For minorities, these differences result in unequal access to quality education, healthy food, livable wages, and affordable housing. In the wake of multiple highly publicized events, the Black Lives Matter movement has gained momentum, and with it have come more strident calls to address this ingrained, or structural, racism, as well as implicit bias (Monique Tello, Harvard Medical School Publishing). This program will focus on the impact of racism in healthcare on our pharmacy patients.
Participant Program Objectives
At the conclusion of the program, the pharmacists and techs will be able to:
- Identify the frameworks of systemic racism to increase knowledge and understanding for pharmacy practitioners and technicians.
- Explain the impact of racism on health inequities within various subgroups.
- Define the role of pharmacists and technicians as social justice/change agents to increase racial equity in health care.
- Discuss achievable and actionable recommendations to counter structural racism in pharmacy practice now and in the future.

All Statements of Credit for ACPE approved – IPhA co-sponsored continuing education that individuals have completed during the year are available online at www.ipha.org.
